Overview
Candidates for the MSc degree in Zoology from Makerere University specialize in one of four disciplines during their second semester. The disciplines are Entomology, Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, Parasitology and Wildlife Ecology and Management. Additional courses are given in Climate and Natural Resources, International Conventions, Natural Resources Laws and Policies, Biostatics, Research Methods and Communication skills.
A student will be required to choose only one area of specialization among the following:
- Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences
- Entomology
- Parasitology
- Wildlife Ecology and Management

General requirements
- Entry requirements are varied but largely science-based. A science background is therefore essential. Each application is considered on its individual merit. The minimum requirement is a lower second class degree.
- Candidates within the country and from overseas are accepted on condition that they have at least a lower second class degree in Zoology.
- Alternatively candidates majoring in Zoology with minor courses in Botany or any other relevant subjects such as Chemistry and Environmental Science from a recognized University may be admitted to the course.
- Eligible candidates may be government or privately sponsored.
