Overview
The Health Sciences and Biomedicine programme from City University of Hong Kong is designed to upgrade existing biomedical studies’ graduates with the knowledge in health sciences and biomedicine and to prepare students with academic knowledge to become managers and engineers of pharmaceutical companies and health related organisations, and scientists or technicians in different research areas in life sciences and health related fields.
Learning Outcomes
- Acquire essential concepts and knowledge of advanced health sciences and biomedicine as well as across the boundaries of interdisciplinary disciplines;
- Develop empathy and social responsibility, moral sensibility, critical thinking, sustained interest and management skills in healthcare and biomedicine, such as ageing, chronic diseases, etc.;
- Apply specialized knowledge to manage and/or solve problems that are critical to future growth of industry, business and social service in government-oriented and non-government organizations;
- Manage skillfully and work effectively with people possessing diverse educational and experiential backgrounds; and
- Apply interdisciplinary knowledge to develop abilities for the increasingly competitive and dynamically changing world market

General requirements
Applicants must satisfy the University's general entrance requirements and the following programme-specific entrance requirements:
- Possess a recognized undergraduate degree in Biology/Bioengineering/Biomedical engineering/Medicine/Pharmacology/Medical Science/Health Science/Veterinary Medicine or a related discipline;
- Preference will be given to individuals who have completed a holistic undergraduate education with knowledge covering mathematics, statistics, cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology, pathology, infectious diseases, pharmacology, medical laboratory technology, patient care, medicine, and veterinary medicine or animal science;
- Extremely competitive applicants who hold a degree in other science-related fields will also be considered; and
- Additional attention will be paid to the students who have little training in the health/biology/medicine-related area to ensure that they can follow the progress of the programme.
