Overview
You begin by developing the understanding of strength production and how these would be linked to the creation of training programmes.
This knowledge is put into practical application by developing the skills and coaching ability with athlete groups. You finish your postgraduate degree in Applied Sport and Exercise Science (Strength and Conditioning) at University of East London with a period in the work place assisting relevant groups with performance enhancement and researching a topic that will hopefully give you the chance to contribute to the body of literature within strength and conditioning to inform future practices.
Your future career
Your master's degree will provide several career opportunities. From the knowledge, skills and experience developed during the course, previous students have achieved strength and conditioning positions with professional sports teams, including Premiership football clubs, university sports teams in the USA and other industrial places.
The course has been designed to cover the content of external body qualifications such as the UKSCA and NSCA making the preparation for these external certifications a natural progression.
Previous students have also built and developed successful personal training companies working with recreational to elite sportspeople.
Additionally, students have continued their education further, applying for PhD and research positions.
Students will develop their skills and knowledge in a directly applied context, further supported by industry experience through the placement module. This will ensure that students are 'employment ready' in their knowledge, skills and experience. The strong industry experience and contacts of our staff team also mean that students will be well-connected to potential jobs as they arise.
In addition, students will be encouraged to make full use of the range of employability resources available through the Careers Centre and LinkedIn Learning.
