Overview
Linguistics and TESOL at National Cheng Kung University will expand its vision into the broader horizon of Anglophone literatures. The researching in these fields will also be informed by interdisciplinary theories that address concerns including but extending beyond primary gender and race issues.
Key facts
- Developing interdisciplinary linguistic research and studies based on linguistic corpora from various languages.
- Advancing research on foreign language reading and writing instruction.
In terms of academic publishing, the department plans to release one scholarly monograph every one to two years based on the research outcomes of the literature and linguistics teams, as well as the results from international conferences.
In recent years, the department has actively sought funding from the National Science and Technology Council and other research institutions to implement cross-national research projects with scholars both domestically and internationally. The research outcomes are then shared with the academic community. Faculty members' papers have been presented at both domestic and international conferences and published in journals, with some books also being released. A reward system has been implemented to encourage faculty and graduate students to engage in research, publish papers, and exchange knowledge in diverse academic and teaching contexts, expanding their horizons and building international connections.
