Geophysical Sciences for Seismic Risk from University of Messina is designed to provide students with a broad and solid cultural and methodological preparation in the core topics of the CLM (geophysical, physical, and geological disciplines), with particular emphasis on the processes that affect the Earth system, both theoretically and experimentally, and their main implications in terms of risk for the environment, life, and human activities;

Key facts

•  knowledge of the scientific method of investigation and the tools for data analysis and processing, at the levels necessary to understand and address problems inherent in geophysical processes and the associated environmental and territorial risks;
•  adequate mastery of the physical-mathematical tools, experimental methodologies, and technologies used for the study, monitoring, and modeling of geophysical systems and phenomena. This mastery will provide students with the ability to develop and apply the knowledge acquired to understand geophysical processes, including for applications specifically related to seismic risk prevention;
•  operational and management skills that, combined with the aforementioned training, will enable them to assume responsibilities and even coordination roles in both public and private administration;
•  good communication skills to be used in various settings, both within the workplace and externally, including those open to the general public and the educational system;
•  adequate knowledge of English and Italian for students of all nationalities, including the vocabulary of the CLM disciplines.
