Overview
The Public Management and Administration Course from Rikkyo University is suitable for those government officials, those interested in NGOs and international organizations or a Ph.D. program. All courses are conducted in English. Students who have satisfied all the requirements of the course including a master's thesis will receive a Master of Public Management and Administration.
What you'll study
The MPMA Course is a two-year program. In the first year, you will take the required courses and build up knowledge, theories, skills and techniques necessary for you to especially collect and analyze data for your thesis writing. You will also learn to utilize various computer software used commonly by economists and various international organizations.
From the second semester on, you will take a variety of elective courses. By taking a mix of elective courses, you will be able to develop a well-balanced skill sets and point of views. Special lectures, hands-on seminars by prominent professionals will also be conducted throughout the program.
A supervisor will be selected/assigned to each of you at the beginning of the first year. You will select an appropriate practical topic to write a master’s thesis under close supervision of your supervisor. There will be an oral defense.
A grade of a “Pass with Distinction” is awarded when the thesis clearly demonstrates evidence of all the criteria expected of a thesis at distinguished level for a master’s degree.
