Overview
Given the increasing demand, there is a need to build a CAM workforce that not only has the capability to support this growth, but is able to effectively meet the health care needs of a growing population through the provision of quality health care. Naturopathic practitioners with advanced knowledge and skills may be well positioned to meet these needs.
Delivered through the National Centre for Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM), the Master of Advanced Naturopathic Medicine from Southern Cross University is ideal for both recent graduates of naturopathic programs and experienced naturopathic practitioners wishing to extend their skills in specialised areas of practice, as well as research, critical thinking, clinical reasoning, integrative health care and evidence-based practice.
Teaching methods
The online study option is innovative, highly interactive and engaging. It strives to promote collaboration and a sense of community among learners. An inquiry-based approach, together with the use of diverse media (e.g. interactive videos, scenario-based activities, electronic study materials, online discussion forums, virtual classes) and real-world assessments, creates an immersive and accessible learning environment that enriches the student learning experience. These methods of teaching may vary from unit to unit.
Career opportunities
The Master of Advanced Naturopathic Medicine enables practitioners to deepen their knowledge, extend their skills, and expand their scope of practice. The qualification also may help open up new career opportunities in the complementary medicines industry, health care sector, and academia. It is also a pathway to further postgraduate studies in advanced naturopathic medicine.
