Overview

The M. Lib. I. Sc., Library and Information Science program at Bharathiar University is blooming under the able leadership of Dr R. Sarangapani, Head i/c. The Department conducts a 2-years integrated Master of Library & Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc.) Programme. Apart from M.Lib.I.Sc. Course, Department conducts Research Programme for the award of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree I Full Time and Part-Time.

Key facts

 Department has recently started a special certificate and Add on courses of study (self-finance) Certificate Course in Library and Information Science and Certificate Course in Library Automation and Digitations, Value Added Course on Digital Information Management and e-Resources Management which aims to provide education and training of handling Automation and Digitations - its storage, preservation, conservation, study and uses.

From 2008 onwards Department has introduced Two years of integrated Master of Library and Information Science (M.Lib.I.Sc.) programmes as per guidelines of the Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) of the University Grant Commission (UGC). M.Phil., and PhD course was initiated in the Department in 2008. Fourteen (14) M.Phil., dissertations and Fourteen (14) Ph.D., Thesis so far have been successfully defended at the Department for the award of Doctor of Philosophy (M.Phil. and PhD).
