Overview
The four Neurobiology tracks study the brain at different - but connected- levels, together spanning multiple levels of brain organisation, from gene to cognition. The main difference lies in the scientific questions, level of analysis and research methods emphasised by each track.
Careers
The Neurobiology (Biomedical Sciences) programme from the University of Amsterdam prepares you for research and other knowledge-intensive careers involving neuroscience, data and scientific evidence. Through specialised courses and substantial research internships, you develop practical research experience, quantitative and analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly.
Continue in neuroscience research
Many graduates continue with a PhD or work in academic, clinical or applied research. During the programme, you learn to formulate research questions, select appropriate methods, analyse data and present your findings.
The knowledge and techniques you develop depend partly on your chosen track. These may include molecular and cellular methods, electrophysiology, imaging, behavioural research, computational modelling and the analysis of neural data.
