It has two first-level doctoral programs in biology and ecology, along with their corresponding two postdoctoral research stations, and a master's program in crop genetics and breeding within the agronomy discipline. It has two provincial-level first-tier key disciplines (biology and ecology) and one university-level key discipline (genetics).

It offers four undergraduate programs: biological sciences, bioengineering, plant science and technology, and bioinformatics. It also has one Henan Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center (Basic Biology Experimental Teaching Center). Among these, biological sciences is a national-level featured program, and the biological sciences, plant science and technology, and bioengineering programs have been selected for the national "first-class program" construction.
