Our well-established and fully accredited Structural Engineering Masters programme will enable you to build advanced capabilities in analysis and codified design in specialised aspects of structural engineering.

The MSc in Structural Engineering will allow you to build on the knowledge and skills acquired from your undergraduate programme. For practising engineers engaged in the planning, design and construction of structural engineering works, this programme provides an opportunity to update your knowledge of current design practice and to become familiar with developments in codes and methods of analysis.

Accreditation

  • Accredited by CIHT as meeting the requirements for Further Learning for a Chartered Engineer under the provisions of UK-SPEC for candidates that have already acquired a CEng accredited BEng(Hons) undergraduate first degree.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • A minimum of 60 per cent in a UK honours degree in civil engineering accredited to CEng, with a minimum of 60 per cent in Structures and Codified Design subjects.
  • Alternatively, a minimum of 70 per cent in a UK honours degree in civil engineering accredited to IEng plus approval from the relevant institution. Overseas equivalent qualifications are also accepted.
  • Alternatively, at least five years’ relevant industrial experience (preferably codified design) or a professional qualification (for example, CEng).
