Overview
Are you passionate about cutting-edge research and the development of new technologies in fields ranging from biomedicine to aerospace and the automotive industry? Have a curiosity about the mechanics of advanced materials or thermofluidic phenomena in complex structures? Advance the world we live in with forward-thinking innovation as a mechanical engineer.
Course Details
The Mechanical Engineering MASc program at York University offers research directions in core fields such as solid mechanics, thermofluids, control and aerospace, as well as in multidisciplinary areas of focus such as microfluidics, smart and multifunctional materials and biomedical optics.
To engage engineers who wish to broaden their scope and professional impact, the department has created the possibility for students to take courses from two premier professional schools at York— Osgoode Hall Law School and the Schulich School of Business. These fresh learning opportunities will provide you with additional soft skills to enhance your success as you transition from graduate school to the workplace. Our program also offers courses with the Faculty of Education, which will empower you to deliver education with an edge to future generations of engineers.
Mechanical engineers have had a hand in some of humanity’s most significant innovations. Yet they don’t just propel us to bigger and better places; they also work to make our world safer, healthier, more efficient, more sustainable and more inclusive. The program’s unique focus on advanced theoretical and applied knowledge, delivered by world-class researchers who also leave a lot of room for students’ independent thinking, makes it an excellent choice for the well-rounded engineer of the future.
