Description
The Educational Leadership and Change MA programme at Durham University is designed to provide a broad-based view of educational leadership and change through the explicit and focused study of specific concepts and issues (e.g. change leadership, leadership of the curriculum, leadership of professional development, system or network leadership, etc.). It explores and critiques the theory, research and practice and encourage students to reflect on and challenge their own practice. The programme also actively caters to matters relating to a range of education sectors and provider types.
Course Structure
Full-time students study the four taught modules plus the dissertation over one year.
Part-time students normally study two taught modules per year in years one and two. The dissertation is also completed in the second year of the programme.
On the MA Education Leadership and Change course, you will take compulsory core modules worth a total of 60 credits plus two optional modules worth 60 credits. Modules are offered either mid-week or at weekends, which provides flexible study routes and a wide choice of options. Modules are delivered using a combination of lectures, seminars workshops, and tutorials. The core modules are designed to provide you with a critical understanding of theories, research and issues relevant to your chosen course of study. Outside timetabled contact hours, you are also expected to devote significant amounts of time to reading, discussing and preparing for classes, assignments and project work.
