About the program
Based in the School of Language, Literature, Film and Visual Culture, the English programme of the University of Aberdeen is distinguished for research on canonical authors and on contextualising approaches to literature. We also have a strong tradition of textual scholarship. We have long standing links with other programmes, particularly History, Philosophy, Cultural History and Modern Languages.

We are open to discussing all potential projects with applicants, including the possibility of undertaking these via Distance Learning.
Our Research
We have expertise in every period of literature, from medieval to contemporary, and particularly in English, Scottish, Irish and American literature.
