The Biomedical Engineering students from Southwest Jiaotong University are systematically trained from the aspects of basic theory, frontier professional knowledge and scientific research experimental skills of material science and engineering major, so that students can become high-quality scientific and technological talents with comprehensive basic knowledge and research and development ability of high-tech materials in material science and engineering major.
The students not only have the comprehensive ability of scientific research, new material design and development, teaching and technology management in this subject and related fields, but also have strong innovation consciousness, certain organization and management ability and team leadership ability, and have the ability of international competition.
After graduation, students can enter the field of rail transit engaged in high-speed trains, ordinary rail passenger freight vehicles, sensor devices, rail bridges and rail works accessories manufacturing large enterprises, but also into modern iron and steel, materials and equipment manufacturing enterprises, engaged in material research and development design, process manufacturing design and control, product testing and quality control, equipment management and maintenance and service behavior evaluation.
It can be engaged in the preparation and modification of related materials in aerospace, information technology, electronic and electrical appliances, Internet of things, automobile, ship, plastics, rubber, paint, building materials and other industries or fields, as well as in molding and processing, product design, quality inspection, production management, etc.
It can also be engaged in scientific research, teaching and management in the field of new materials such as advanced structural materials, functional materials, polymer materials, superconducting materials, advanced ceramic materials, energy materials and surface engineering.
In the past three years, the employment rate of students is close to 100 and the rate of graduate school is more than 40.
