About the programme
Why choose Cyber Security?
You should choose Cyber Security if you want to help manage and overcome the cyber security challenges we face in a digitalised society. You will work with network security, testing and verification, crisis communication, strategic planning and design of secure systems, preparation of risk and threat analyses, management and prevention of cyber-attacks, IoT security and the use of cyber security tools and methods such as honeypots.
Educational content
The Master's in Cyber Security combines strong academic skills with real-world problems and business collaboration. You will be part of a large community with professional and social events such as training days, hacking challenges and guest lectures. This gives you the chance to establish a strong network of academic peers and industry professionals. As a Master’s student, you can also participate in the Danish Hub for Cyber Security. The programme is rooted in a dedicated study environment where your professors support you in achieving your goals – and you gain access to state-of-the-art facilities and labs on campus. Your skills as a graduate
The Master's in Cyber Security gives you a strong foundation in cyber security. You will be able to analyse and manage cyber -attacks, identify vulnerabilities and develop secure systems, networks and software. You will learn how to understand threat assessments, conduct risk analyses and design and implement strategic solutions for preventing and mitigating attacks – even in complex and business-critical environments.

Cyber threats pose a growing challenge to society, and the need for specialists with strong technical and analytical skills is greater than ever. With this Master’s, you will be in high demand and can fill positions in private companies that develop cybersecurity solutions and services. You can also join the consulting industry, advising on risk management, compliance and security strategies. Public institutions such as the police, the Danish Defence and various government agencies also need experts who can protect critical infrastructure and ensure digital stability. In addition, the demand for cybersecurity profiles is increasing within sectors such as energy, healthcare and finance, where digital systems are critical to operations. You can choose to apply for a job with either a technical focus or a strategic focus. Some graduates also choose to stay at university to pursue a three-year research programme (PhD).

General requirements
Admission to a Master’s programme – whether it is taught in English or Danish – requires:
- Successful completion of a relevant and recognised university Bachelor’s degree equivalent to a Danish Bachelor’s degree in level and length (180 ECTS).
- Successful fulfilment of specific admission requirements related to the relevant Master's degree programme.
- Successful fulfilment of language requirements, i.e. an AAU approved English test for Master’s programmes taught in English, and a Danish proficiency test (Studieprøven i Dansk) in case a programme is taught in Danish.Before a certain deadline you must meet these requirements.
