The Electric Vehicle Engineering Course at the University of Parma aims to train a qualified electrical engineer to perform and manage complex integration activities of electrical components and systems for the automotive sector, with particular attention to "full-electric" and to the problems of the mobility system connected to it.

Overview

Following a well-established and rapidly expanding trend, mobility systems will increasingly be characterized by having an electric propulsion system, as well as by having a multitude of automatic vehicle and driving control systems.

While developing, therefore, transversal skills common to many sectors of industrial engineering and thus guaranteeing graduates the possibility of finding an adequate professional outlet in a wide range of industrial sectors, the course of study aims to provide immediate specialist preparation spendability in vehicle companies that have always been an authentic flagship of the regional production fabric.

The experimental laboratories and computer equipment, already present in the headquarters and undergoing further development, will allow to deepen the theoretical notions acquired during the lessons and the applicative aspects.

Opportunities

Graduates from the Electric Vehicle Engineering Course at the University of Parma  will have ample opportunities for employment, being able to profitably enter all areas of work in the vehicle electric drive sector, where there are electrical and electronic systems and appliances and electronic power systems, even of high complexity.

Programme Structure

  • To achieve these educational objectives, the Master's Degree Course provides in its first year the essential knowledge in the field of design and integration of electrical systems and components in electric vehicles. At the same time, contents are provided relating to the analysis and management of electromagnetic compatibility, diagnostics of the vehicle's electrical components, coordination of the on-board electrical system.
  • The second year complements and specializes the first by providing specific project examples of electrical subsystems actually built on existing vehicles as well as exposing the student to the optimized methods of integrating these components into the vehicle itself, ensuring the quality and safety of the procedures implemented.
  • The study plan leaves room for interaction with the local companies most involved in the sector to take place already during the thesis period.
