Shape your own learning experience
By exposing you to different disciplines and perspectives, the Design for Learning Environment PGCert shapes your own learning experience. You will be encouraged to collaborate with fellow students, academics and practitioners from diverse backgrounds to create a portfolio of assessed work, including instructional design exercises, digital development and data analysis.
If you would like to study module by module, we also offer Design for Learning Environments short courses. These courses provide the same experience as the PGCert, but are divided into individual, 8-week modules, each worth 10 credits. So, you can flexibly ‘stack’ each module to achieve the full PGCert over a longer period of time.

Programme Structure
The PGCert Design for Learning Environments (online) programme is taught by leading experts and covers all essential areas of creating an effective learning environment. By offering a comprehensive and diverse experience, you will be empowered to tailor your education systems to the end user, test out new ideas, and build better ways to learn.
Studying the PGCert takes approximately 1 year to complete. It is a 60-credit programme. Modules include:

General requirements
- Students who have obtained an upper second-class degree or postgraduate diploma from a UK university are eligible for standard academic entry and must submit a completed application and a copy of their CV. Anyone who meets standard entry criteria will receive an offer in principle within 48 hours.
- Students must have obtained (or be predicted to obtain) an upper second-class degree or postgraduate diploma from a UK university OR an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
- Complete the online application
- Supply an up-to-date curriculum vitae (CV) demonstrating your academic and work experience, plus any other skills that may support your application
- Optional: Submit a personal statement uploaded in PDF format
