At the Cybersecurity Governance MSc programme offered by Leiden University you will be familiarized with the breadth, depth and complexity of cybersecurity challenges. This track seeks to provide you state-of-the art with knowledge of governance and regulatory strategies available to address these challenges.



In a world that increasingly relies on networked digital technologies, cybersecurity has become a pressing concern. In recent times, academics, governments and organisations have come to realize that cybersecurity is not only a technical issue, but also involves questions of governance and policy making, law and regulations, politics and international relations, and economics and psychology. This Cybersecurity Governance MSc programme offered by Leiden University is the only dedicated programme in the Netherlands that focuses on the governance and regulatory dimensions of this field.

Programme Structure

Programme outline:

  • In this MSc you gain the knowledge and skills necessary to become a professional researcher in a security or crisis related field; a civil servant at a security, defense, or foreign or internal affairs institution; or to be a private sector professional advising other institutions on these issues. 
  • Regardless of your focus this degree provides you with the practical and theoretical tools to tackle emerging security/crisis issues through a governance perspective.
