Overview
This Promoting Psychological Wellbeing (IAPT) programme from The University of Lancashire will provide you with a thorough grounding in the theory, evidence base and practice of low-intensity psychological therapy for common mental health problems. You’ll focus on developing your clinical skills in Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT)-approved methods, including behavioural activation, exposure and habituation, panic management, cognitive restructuring, sleep management, problem solving and medical concordance.
Most mental health problems are managed in primary care. Improving access to those services which can effectively treat people who are experiencing common mental health problems will have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the population. Primary care is now the cornerstone of the NHS and needs to be able to meet the growing demands placed upon it.
