The main focus is on understanding how people’s personalities, cognitions and social environment influence their health and social functioning.

Careers

Job opportunities for health and social psychologists are broad and varied. You could, for example, become a researcher in an academic or applied health setting, or work in communication planning, health promotion, and policy-making. A broad understanding of behaviour and how it can changed can easily be applied in various sectors and occupations from health promotion to human resources to policy making. In order to determine if a bachelor’s and/or master’s degree is equivalent to a Dutch university bachelor’s and/or master’s degree, the Board of Admissions makes use of NUFFIC diploma recognition. NUFFIC issues recommendations on the value of higher or secondary education diplomas obtained outside the Netherlands. Where possible, the foreign diploma is compared to a Dutch diploma.
