Overview
Graduates can join an international research-oriented career at universities and non-university research institutions. The explicitly application-oriented teaching and project research also open up professional fields in the health sector as well as in competitive and popular sports. The competencies required to conduct research successfully in the fields described, both in an application-oriented and theory-guided manner, are taught on the basis of a modularly structured study concept.
This Applied Neurosciences in Sports and Exercise MSc course offered by the University of Paderborn is divided into three consecutive study sections in two academic years. The first semester corresponds to the "basic phase". Essential substantive foundations within the two focal points as well as methodological skills (neuroscientific methodological skills, general research skills) are laid here. The second and third semesters comprise the "project phase". In-depth knowledge of the content takes place, both scientifically and theoretically as well as application-oriented in practical fields of action.
A targeted and situation-appropriate implementation of sport and movement in training and therapy is focused. A large part of the workload is also carried out through project work (literature-based, experimentally and / or conceptually) generated. In the third semester, additional competencies in the field of nutritional science, health communication and / or general in the form of general studies are acquired through elective modules. The fourth semester comprises the "final phase" and is reserved for the preparation of the master's thesis. This will also be presented and defended in a colloquium. In addition to imparting activity-related core competencies, the students are trained on the basis of the development of personal key competencies such as method, communication and presentation as well as social and personal skills. Both concepts serve to enable the students to work in the desired, research- and application-oriented professional fields of activity in a way that is appropriate to the situation,
Due to the international orientation through the teaching language English as well as potential cooperation with international partners (e.g. during the external internship), not only German but also foreign students are expressly addressed.
