Overview

The Economics program offered by The University of the West Indies aims to deepen the knowledge and understanding of economics as an academic discipline, enable graduates to apply the principles of economics analysis to the design of economic policy, impart technical and analytical skills which will allow graduates to practice as professional economists and provide a solid foundation on which more advanced studies in economics can be built.

Careers

Graduates of the M.Sc. Economics programme typically find employment in both the public and private sectors. Many graduates working in the public sector are located at the central bank, the various government ministries, and regulatory bodies.

Within the private sector they are to be found in the financial sector, the utilities, and other private entities. Some graduates go on to pursue Ph.D. Economic degrees at overseas universities.
