Overview
As the crucial role of exercise and physical activity in the treatment of diseases and medical conditions is increasingly understood, health practitioners are encouraged to consider exercise prescriptions when designing treatment plans and health interventions.
Just as the exercise medicine global health initiative continues to grow, so do the opportunities for well-qualified individuals with an understanding of research in this area.
Formerly known as the MSc in Exercise as Medicine, the MSc in Clinical Exercise Physiology degree has been developed in response to this trend, drawing on Loughborough University 's internationally recognised research on physical activity and health.
The Clinical Exercise Physiology programme from Loughborough University is aimed at individuals with a background in exercise science and/or physical activity who wish to enhance their scientific knowledge and skills to effectively promote the uptake of exercise, particularly for patients with hypertension, diabetes, pulmonary, renal and cardiac conditions, or those at risk of metabolic syndrome.
This MSc will therefore educate a new, highly skilled group of allied health professionals with the ability to work alongside clinicians and practitioners to manage the epidemic of lifestyle-related diseases and conditions.
Based in the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine – East Midlands, you will be taught in high quality teaching environments and have access to state-of-the-art laboratories, designed to facilitate the transfer of cutting-edge research to front-line support and care.
