Key facts
The Computer Sciences program at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) focuses on expanding upon the fundamentals of programming and computational theory to prepare students for highly productive careers in industry.
Education
Graduates receive the MSCS for completing one of three options in the program as described in this section. Students may apply to the program if they possess a bachelor's degree in computer science from an accredited institution.
Students with a bachelor's degree in computer science are encouraged to apply as well, with the understanding that they will be required to complete remedial coursework appropriate to their background in addition to the requirements of the MSCS degree.
All applicants are evaluated according to their prior academic record, scores on the Graduate Record Examination, a personal statement, and letters of recommendation. Applicants are selected for fall semester admission only.

General requirements
- Completion of the online application.
- Receipt of three recommendation letters (requested within the on-line application).
- Scores from the general Graduate Record Examination (GRE) are required. Applicant scores are expected to be at least 153 in the Verbal, 155 in the Quantitative, and 3.0 in the Analytical sections for the MS program.
- The desirable minimum GPA is 3.0/4.0, though most candidates score higher.
- The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for candidates from non-English speaking countries who have not studied in the United States for at least one year. The minimum accepted score is 100 for the internet based TOEFL exam, however most candidates should be above this score.
