This Italian Literature and Culture MA programme at Leiden University is taught entirely in Italian and offers advanced studies in all areas of Italian literature, from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Developed in close cooperation with two other top universities in the Netherlands – Amsterdam and Utrecht – this master's offers you the broadest selection of Italian-language courses in the Netherlands.

During your studies you will explore the cultural context of the literature you read as well as its influence on other literature of the period, all while improving your fluency in oral and written Italian.

The following diploma requirements apply for this programme:

A bachelor’s degree from a Dutch research university (in the specialisation) Italian Language and Culture or European Languages and Cultures: Italian.
Holders of a comparable bachelor’s degree from a research university, equivalent to the level of a Dutch academic Bachelor’s degree, or who can demonstrate that they meet the requirements for such a degree, may also be granted admission.
Completed the pre-Master's/bridging programme.
