Overview
The study program is on a part-time basis allowing for full-time employment and usually takes four semesters (24 months). Direct classroom and laboratory workshops are presented approximately once a month over an extended weekend (Friday through Tuesday).
Moreover, it is possible to participate in study visits of two weeks each at the co-operation universities in the U.S.A. These are the New England College of Optometry (Clinical Optometry) and the Pacific University (Vision Therapy, Pediatric Optometry, Sports Vision). These lectures, as well as the experience abroad, are strongly recommended.
The Vision Science and Business (Optometry) program from Aalen University of Applied Sciences offers the flexible choice of courses and core modules corresponding to the students’ interests. A least-score of various modules is required in order to graduate with the internationally recognized Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree.
Career Opportunities
With the Master’s degree graduates Master of Science M.Sc. in Vision Science and Business (Optometry) are prepared for future challenges they face in optometry. The content allows students to apply knowledge gained in everyday practice with customers. Fields of activities incorporate optical shops, contact lens institutes, optometric practices, ophthalmologic clinics, industry and research. In addition, it facilitates the pursuit of further education, such as a PhD degree and/or Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree program.Programme Structure
