Departmental elective courses aim to have students get skilled in modeling and computational methods for statistics applied in various different areas such as economics, finance, marketing, sociology, psychology, genetics, and medicine.

The Statistics program from METU Middle East Technical University requires conducting research and writing a thesis. A thesis is usually one of the following: methodological, computational, empirical, or theoretical. In a typical methodological M.S. thesis, the student compares and evaluates different available statistical models and estimation methods through a simulation study. In a computational M.S. thesis, computational statistical methods are the emphasis. In an empirical M.S. thesis, a novel data set is central to the thesis and a collection of appropriate existing statistical methods are employed for the analysis.

International Graduate Students' Registration Form: The form is expected to be downloaded by the student and filled, including the student's signature.
ALES / GRE Score Sheet: The score sheets are valid for five years from the exact date they are announced. Students who used to be registered in one of the graduate programs of METU and then either canceled the registration on their own will or were dismissed from the program are not asked to provide a new ALES / GRE score only if they have not been registered to graduate programs of METU for one academic year at max.
