Overview
The cooperative study program Master of Arts in Architecture (MAA) at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts run by the Lucerne School of Engineering and Architecture and the School of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geomatics at the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland in Basel gives students a broader understanding of architecture in the area of conflict between technology and context. In close proximity to applied research, students experience architecture in a practical and committed environment incorporating a lively mix of theory and research.
The degree program for architects is based on a five-year study program consisting of a three-year bachelor’s program and a two-year master’s program. The bachelor’s program provides a broad basis of knowledge for the profession, whilst the master’s program focuses on instilling methodological skills.
In the master’s program, students acquire the knowledge, skills and capabilities
- to think and work in the different scales applied to architecture,
- to link artistic innovation methodically with scientific work,
- to learn by researching, to act in a reflective manner and to practice further writing,
- to develop and champion their own position in an inspired practice of the profession.
