Overview
Graduates of this programme will be able to:
- Demonstrate a lifelong ability to critically analyse and evaluate ongoing practice so that the quality of practice can be advanced and ensured;
- Assess patients and make rational decisions regarding physiotherapeutic approaches to treatment, through a logical clinical reasoning process;
- Demonstrate the level of proficiency, confidence and independence in the safety use of Manipulative Physiotherapy expected of a graduate in the field; and
- Critically evaluate the management methods and to work in the framework of evidence-based approach.
Characteristics
- This programme fulfills all requirements of international monitoring by International Federation of Orthopaedic Manipulative Physical Therapists (IFOMPT).
- Students who successfully complete the award are eligible to apply for full membership of Manipulative Therapy Specialty Group of the Hong Kong Physiotherapy Association, which is a member organisation of IFOMPT.
- Unique experience in Chinese manual therapy in an East–meets-West context.
- Programme aimed at clinical specialisation. Highly commended by clinicians and clinic/ department managers of private and public organisations.
- Balance of theory, practice and scientific investigation components.
- Reasonable credit transfer considered for equivalent subjects earned at postgraduate level.

General requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in physiotherapy or related rehabilitation disciplines from PolyU or a recognised institution or the equivalent, preferably with one year of post-qualification work experience in related rehabilitation field;OR
- A professional diploma in physiotherapy or related rehabilitation disciplines from PolyU or a recognised institution or the equivalent, with two years of work experience and evidence of continuous education over the past two years.
- Applications will be considered on the basis of the information (such as academic achievements, professional qualifications and work experience) provided in the application.
- You may be required to attend an interview and/or test.
- Departments will consider applications on a rolling basis until places are filled.
- Some programmes will receive applications in two rounds
