Overview
The Tropical Pediatrics program of Mahidol University is preparing students to become tropical pediatric practitioner and clinical reseachers.
The department of Tropical Pediatrics was established in 1974. Our main missions are conducting clinical researches, disseminating knowledge and providing medical services in the field of tropical pediatrics.
For research, the department has achieved a significant contribution in advance knowledge in tropical pediatrics including malaria, intestinal parasite, rabies immunization and recently dengue epidemiology in Thailand and clinical trials of dengue and Japanese encephalitis vaccines.
The objectives of M.C.T.M. (T.P.) program are:
- Well-trained and up-to-date in tropical and endemic diseases, with special reference to Southeast Asia , in relation to their causes, epidemiology, pathogenic mechanisms, and the prevention and control of diseases.
- Able efficiently to examine, diagnose and treat patients suffering from tropical and endemic pediatric diseases.
- Able to provide consultation in disseminate and impart knowledge of tropical pediatrics.
- Able to conduct clinical research with special emphasis on problem solving that will lead to an autonomous initiation of new knowledge, and also to innovation and the continuation of academic advancement

- Demonstrate ethical consideration in medical practice.

- Describe the tropical diseases in important aspects of epidemiology, clinical presentations, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control.
- Describe research methodologies and principle of good clinical practice.
- Formulate the diagnosis and management of tropical pediatrics based on clinical information.
- Organize clinical research in tropical pediatrics according to international standard.
- Formulate professional teamwork in clinical practice.
- Formulate professional teamwork in clinical research.
- Retrieve, process and analyze data using appropriate technologies.
- Present data and communicate using appropriate technologies.
