The Master of Science in Applied Mathematics for Science and Technology (Actuarial and Investment Science) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is to provide mathematical modelling and computational techniques that are useful to engineers, scientists, technologists and managers and to focus on applications and the use of computer packages to solve practical problems.

Overview

The Department of Applied Mathematics has a strong team of researchers in applied statistics, financial mathematics and operations research to facilitate the teaching of the programme. In particular, Mathematics in PolyU has achieved remarkable recognition in recent years. In the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking 2021, PolyU is listed the world top 100 in Statistics and Operational Research. PolyU is also ranked 54 in Best Universities for Mathematics by U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities 2022.

  • Bachelor's degree with honours in Engineering, Computer Science, Basic Science, Business, Economics, or the equivalent (industrial or business experience will be an asset)
