About

The Psychology M.Sc. from London South Bank University is a conversion course for individuals already possessing an undergraduate degree in a field other than Psychology but who wish to develop a professional career in Psychology. Previous study of psychology is not required.

By providing the requisite knowledge and skills for post-graduate education and training, this conversion course is the key gateway to a career in clinical, counselling, forensic, health, educational, occupational or other areas of Psychology.

Psychology is an exceptionally versatile degree because it offers understanding of many aspects of human behaviour, applicable to many sectors of society, such as education, health, business and social welfare. The course is amongst the first in the UK to teach the core curriculum in an integrated fashion, which brings together different approaches to psychology within each module and thereby provides a deeper and richer understanding of human behaviour.  

Having knowledge of the processes that underlie and influence learning, memory, social interactions, feelings, thinking and communication, combined with the development of skills in critical thinking and research, will put you in an excellent position for further post-graduate training or future employment.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Required score: Lower Second Class

Applicants for graduate programs must have the equivalent of a bachelor’s degree with a minimum GPA equivalent to Lower Second Class on the UK Honour scale. Admitted applicants typically have an undergraduate GPA of or better on the UK Honour scale. No exam grade should be lower than 4.5 (European grade scale) or D (American grade scale).

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

  • The normal entry requirement is a recognised Honours degree with a minimum classification of 2:2.
  • Applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong interest in psychology as an academic discipline and provide a clear rational for why they want to take the course.
  • No prior study in psychology is required but if it can be demonstrated that the specific learning outcomes of a module on the course have been met on the appropriate level then credit prior learning via APL may be given. Applicants will be able to claim APL for a maximum of 3 units (60 credits).
