The Master of Science in Business Analytics programme at The University of Hong Kong aims to prepare students for a career in business analytics. A business analytics professional needs to have the necessary skills and knowledge in a range of fields, including business, database, informatics, as well as in advanced topics in business analytics such as business data mining, big data etc.

About

The programme in Business Analytics at The University of Hong Kong offers students with various business analytics courses, and it prepares an optimal mix of fundamental and cutting-edge knowledge in business analytics. Particularly, the programme will require a total of ten 6-credit courses that consist of five core courses (30 credits) and five elective courses (30 credits). 

The courses are divided into three streams: general analytics, information analytics, and operations analytics. Up to two elective courses may be taken from other taught postgraduate programmes offered by the Faculty.

Graduates of the programme will possess core analytics and quantitative skills needed in modern business world. They will fill the growing demand of business analytics specialists in Hong Kong, the region, and the world. To offer practical relevance as well as to prepare students for the job market, the programme forms a tie-up with Cyberport Hong Kong, an innovation & technology hub and creative digital community consisting of over 800 startups and organizations.

Academic Requirements

  • This programme does not recognise GRE® scores.

    The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. The GRE® General Test contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.

  • Statements from two referees; and
