The Master of Buddhist Studies (MBuddhStud) programme, offered in collaboration with the Centre of Buddhist Studies, is a rich multidisciplinary programme where students are provided with high-quality teaching on the fundamental understanding and in-depth analysis of Buddhism from textual, doctrinal and historical perspective

About

It introduces students to several Buddhist traditions through a diversity of methodological approaches and offers language courses in Pali, Sanskrit, and Tibetan which lay a solid philological foundation to students’ learning in the historical Buddhist traditions.  Furthermore, the programme further aims to provide training in the application of teachings, experiences, practices and values of Buddhist traditions to address complex personal, social and global issues of the modern world with particular reference to current scholarly research.

Programme Structure

The programme is intended both for professionals such as teachers, psychologists, social workers and counsellors, who are interested in applying Buddhist teachings in their daily work, and for individuals interested in studying Buddhism as a means of spiritual development. It also serves as an excellent basis for candidates planning to study for research degrees in the field.
