The MSc in Economics from WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) provides students with a thorough understanding of economic theories and state-of-the art empirical methods, applying them to a broad range of policy and business topics.
The master's program is a two-year full-time program for students holding a bachelor's degree in economics or a related field. You can apply either for the Applied Track or the Science Track.
The Applied Track prepares students for careers in government, business or NGOs. It focuses on problem-solving skills and empirical data analysis. The Science Track is designed for students who would like to pursue a career in economic research. It puts strong emphasis on the mathematical and statistical foundations and on advanced economic theory and methods.

General requirements
The application takes place online. The specific selection procedures vary among programs. Applicants are selected based on comprehensive assessment procedures, e.g. interviews, assessment of documents by an expert jury.
WU’s master’s programs start only in the winter semester, please note the relevant application deadlines of the rolling admission.
Various specific requirements apply to each program, these must be demonstrated during the application process, as well as your aptitude for the program. Requirements include amongst others:
completion of a relevant degree program
examinations in relevant areas, e.g. Business, Economics, Mathematics
proof of aptitude, e.g. GMAT, letter of recommendation
excellent proficiency in English
Proof of your graduation is not required until admission, but the requirements have to be documented during the application process.
