Overview
The whole Lower Secondary School English Language Teacher Training programme from Masaryk University, i.e. subject-matter and propedeutic courses of teaching, is characterised by connecting theory and practice. As part of the study programme you will have an opportunity to do your teaching practice in three different schools. Your experience will be analysed in reflective seminars and other related courses. In the master’s study programme, didactics of English language teaching has become a priority together with the effort to establish links between didactics and linguistic, cultural and literary disciplines.
The emphasis is on our students’ ability to apply the acquired knowledge to their teaching practice at lower secondary schools. Having prospective teachers in mind, the teachers at the English department employ such teaching methods which provide a teaching model to our students -prospective teachers. We offer a full-time and a combined mode of the Lower Secondary School English Teacher Training Programme. The Department of the English Language and Literature is well-known for its friendly atmosphere, extraordinary relationships between students and teachers, rich community life and, last but not least, for a number of extracurricular activities.
You can join the FAME choir or take part in a popular intensive language and methodology course which employs features of experiential learning. We also support student stays abroad, which can enable them to gain the necessary insight and valuable experience at foreign universities – in Great Britain, USA, Spain, Denmark, Sweden and other countries.
