Overview

The MSc in Business Innovation and Informatics is offered by the Department of Management and Innovation Systems / DISA-MIS of the University of Salerno. The "Business Innovation and Informatics" course weaves academic excellence and relevant networking prospects, to help graduates kick-start their international careers as responsible managers, finance executives, entrepreneurs, chief technical officer, business consultants, data scientist, and expert in artificial intelligence or computer security. Using an innovative learning approach that balances academic rigor with managerial relevance, the program includes two curricula that consist of core courses in the functional areas of management and elective courses that offer specialized knowledge and real-life examples in the areas of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, International Management and Informatics. The program encourages students to experience another culture through Double Degree Programs. This full-time study program comprises 120 ECTS spread over 4 semesters (usual duration 2 years) and is entirely held in English. The course of studies through international agreements with the University of Portsmouth (UK) and Universidad Tecnologica de Pereira (Colombia) is nominated for the double title to its learners.

The legal duration of the Master's degree course is two years. It can also sign up for part-time, according to the rules established by the University. This Master combines lectures to cover the theoretical aspects with hands-on labs for conveying the relevant practical elements, through specific project works. It also provided a practical application of the content of study to be carried out in the Laboratory under the guidance of the lecturer. In particular, the project works will take place either in parallel with lessons, either in an interdisciplinary mode (as a connection between different courses). The project work will be studied even within the business companies partner of the study program and will cover the resolution of complex real-world problems. The Master Degree in Business Innovation and Informatics is held entirely in English, so as to allow a formation at an international level.

Potential job profiles range from project management to consulting and include areas such as evaluating the benefit and managing the introduction of a new technology into an organization, designing and implementing small and large scale IT systems, and consulting companies and customers regarding the requirements and the limitations of IT systems.

Audience

Registration requires to have a Bachelor or an equivalent degree of at least three years in Computer Science or in Computer Engineering. In case of degrees in different classes, it is required to have earned at least n. 30 ECTS in Computer Science and a reasonable competence in Maths and Stats. It is also required to hold a specialized knowledge of English at a B2 level.

    Credits at the "Business Innovation and Informatics" MSc can be acquired after passing Core courses (40 ECTS), Specialization courses (30 ECTS), Elective courses (30 ECTS) and MSc Thesis examination (30 CTS).

    Credits can be acquired also during periods spent at foreign Universities due to Double Title and Erasmus+ agreements.
