Programme Structure
The NCUK Pre-Masters Programme qualification gives guaranteed access to a postgraduate degree on successful completion. It includes:
- Subject Module – One of Management, Life Sciences or Engineering
- Research Module – this is an assessed dissertation of project proposal. It develops key skills such as evaluating information from a range of sources, qualitative and quantitative research methods, project planning, analyzing data and referencing.
- Orientation to Western Study – this module involves learning key differences between study in a student’s home country and the UK. It is not formally assessed.
- English for Academic Purposes – this module gives students a recognised English qualification which can be used for visa purposes and aims to particularly develop academic English.

General requirements
- Age Requirements
Applicants must normally be 21 years at the start of the Pre-Master’s Programme (PMP).
- Minimum Academic Requirements
Students should normally have completed a qualification equivalent to a UK Bachelors degree at a recognised university, in a subject relevant to their intended progression route. Students must complete a full Bachelors degree (note that the normal length of study for a Bachelors degree differs between countries). 3 year Diploma holders from some countries e.g. China may be accepted to PMP Route A (note that such students may have limited progression).
Work experience
For both Route A and B entry, relevant work experience is highly desirable. Progression opportunities may be limited without appropriate work experience.
