About

The two-year Master’s programme in Industrial and Environmental Biotechnology at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology  comprises advanced courses regarding biotechnological tools used for the development of industrial processes, sustainable production of commodities and the impact of such processes on the environment and the society. The courses focus on five subject areas: cell-based process biotechnology, enzyme biotechnology, environmental biotechnology, medical applications of biotechnology and omics are programme offers.

 The student is able to tailor their education to create a unique profile and expertise. The courses are tailored to provide a holistic perspective and comprise both theoretical knowledge and practical application of theory. Skills such as problem-solving and project management as well as professional communication are emphasised on several courses. The programme curriculum is closely linked to the research undertaken at the School of Biotechnology and to the Bio/Pharmaceutical/Chemical industry.

  • Cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology and gene technology/molecular biology corresponding to a total of at least 20 ECTS
