Overview
At Education program offered by St. Francis Xavier University (StFX) students must complete the specified core courses, and choose electives appropriate to their interests. It provides excellent opportunities for faculty and graduate students to learn and grow together as graduate students may have the option to work alongside faculty co-teaching in BEd classes. Full-time students may also engage in self-directed internships and directed studies, while continuing their courses online.
Full-time students have the opportunity to complete a course-based MEd over a 13-month period. Full-time students choosing to work on a thesis or project can complete course requirements for the degree over the fall, winter and spring terms and begin their research in the late spring and summer. Although it is not necessary to know which route (thesis, project or course based) to take before beginning the program, students interested in the thesis or project as part of their full-time study arrangement should contact the Continuing and Distance Education Department for additional information. All students must begin their MEd program in July by taking two courses in the summer school term on the StFX campus immediately following their acceptance into the program.
