Overview

During the Forensic Science programme from The University of Lancashire , you'll have access to a blood pattern analysis suite, as well as biomolecular, biochemistry and genetics research laboratories. These are designed to conduct forensic research at the highest standards. Our laboratories include a Pre-PCR and a Post-PCR room. The equipment available includes the ABI 3500XL Genetic Analyzer and an Oxford Nanopore GridION device.

What you'll do

You will work on a project of your choice, producing a dissertation which is significant and original contribution to knowledge.

You will be supervised by two experienced researchers, who can share their expertise and offer guidance. You can also attend taught modules at the school.

You will be part of a thriving group of postgraduate researchers, with access to state-of-the-art forensic facilities and equipment.

Programme Structure

Courses include:

MSc by Research allows you to work on a research project of your choice. You will produce a dissertation of up to 20,000 words. This will be examined by internal and external examiners. You must also defend your thesis in a viva voce examination. This will take 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time.
