Syllabus

The MRes History programme primarily assesses students through a dissertation on their selected topic, complemented by two taught courses:

• Explorations and Debates in History: This module examines how historians have conceptualised and contested historical practices from the modern and early modern periods.
• Explorations and Debates in Queer History: This course focuses on the experiences and understandings of LGBTQ+ lives across various historical contexts.
• Explorations and Debates in Black British History: This module delves into the experiences of individuals of African descent within a British context from the early modern period to the present.
• Research Skills: This course develops expertise in various methodologies, including the use of oral, visual, material, and textual sources.
