About

The Master in High Performance Computing (MHPC) at the International School for Advanced Studies is an innovative specialization program that prepares students for exciting careers in the fast-growing field of HPC.

Overview

Set in the stimulating research environment of its co-organizer institutions, SISSA and ICTP, the program combines lectures with hands-on and applied projects to prepare future HPC specialists for academia and industry.

The High Performance Computing master degree from the International School for Advanced Studies is driven by challenging scientific and technical problems that require an HPC approach. Lectures are provided by SISSA and ICTP staff and highly recognized international experts. Both institutes have long histories and experience in developing and applying scientific and research computation models.

Facilities

  • SISSA and ICTP host one of the largest HPC facilities in Italy, and it will be available to MHPC students.
  • Students will work on a new HPC cluster with more than 4000 cores based on the newest technology. This allows student to gain direct experience in a production environment and to explore characteristics and configurations of an HPC cluster.
  • The HPC system also provides a number of nodes with accelerators explicitly dedicated to advanced research projects. The in-house facilities are complemented by state-of-the-art facilities available world wide to computational research groups involved with the MHPC.
