Overview
The Healthcare Quality MSc course from Queen's University participants will have two (2) mandatory, one-week intensive sessions in the first year. The first in early September and the second the following July; the remainder of the program will be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous study using interactive online videoconferencing.videoconferencing.
The learning outcomes of the MScHQ Program are to:
- Critically appraise, apply, and evaluate opportunities for system improvement in healthcare using contemporary and evidence-informed methods, tools, and approaches with consideration to Indigeneity, equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism and accessibility.
- Propose and apply interventions that address challenges to health quality as drawn from interdisciplinary, interprofessional or health equity lenses, or any combination of these, through active networking and collaboration with interested parties.
- Critically apply theories to lead activities and scholarship that support equitable improvement within health systems.
- Integrate evidence from diverse sources to develop and evaluate strategies and solutions that advance quality improvement, risk reduction and safety within health systems in Canada and globally.
- Critique, contextualize and apply principles and strategies with the goal of improving the quality of healthcare for all persons, communities, and systems.
- Demonstrate independence and integrity while upholding principles that address quality and safety and risk in the service of healthcare improvement science.
- Lead and support health practice and system improvement using approaches grounded in integrity, ethics, and accountability and with consideration to Indigeneity, equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and accessibility.
- Communicate complex ideas, issues and conclusions related to health quality and effectively use language, behaviors, and practices.
Create new collaborative relationships and networks to expand and challenge existing knowledge about health quality using a variety of approaches.
