This Biology MSc programme at Leiden University, based on world-class research, offers a wealth of opportunities for students who are interested in molecular biosciences, in evolution, biodiversity or conservation.

The Biology Institute is part of the Faculty of Science, which offers ample opportunities for crossing borders with other science areas. No less than five biological research institutes collaborate in the MSc programme in Leiden, ensuring a broad and diverse scope.

Biology is the right master's programme for you if you are interested in molecular biology, biotechnology, cell biology, evolutionary biology, biodiversity and/or environment. In one of the research specialisations you will be trained for a career in research within or outside academia. You can also choose for a more practical-oriented specialisation where you combine one year of biology research with one year of training in business, communication or education.

The close proximity of the Bio Science Park with its many companies active in the (bio)medical field and the cooperation with the Leiden University Medical Center expand the study options.In addition, the availability of important biodiversity collections at the National Herbarium, the famous Hortus Botanicus, and the National Museum of Natural History 'Naturalis' contribute to an excellent environment for biologists in Leiden.
