Overview
The Swedish Preschool Education program surveys the history, policies, pedagogies and other relevant ideas and practices of Swedish preschool education. Students who complete the program will not only gain expertise in these areas, they will also gain the the knowledge and skills for conducting research in early childhood education.
The program combines classroom-based instruction with field visits to Swedish preschools and other early childhood education venues. The program welcomes Swedish and international students. Program instruction is in English.
After graduation
Given Sweden’s position as a world leader in early childhood education, graduates of the program will be well positioned for employment as preschool educators, researchers and leaders, whether they choose to pursue their careers internationally or in Sweden.
At the same time, students will leave the program ready to pursue doctoral studies in early childhood education or related fields, as the program provides rigorous training in early childhood education research, taught and supervised by PhD faculty from the Preschool Educational Research Group at Jönköping University’s School of Education and Communication, as well as by outside faculty who are national and international experts in the field.
