Overview
Environmental health is the study of how the environment impacts on our health – the physical, biological, chemical and sociological factors external to us that determine our health and wellbeing. Environmental health is the branch of public health that is concerned with all aspects of the natural and built environment that affect our health, such as water, food, air, buildings and waste.
This Environmental Health programme from Flinders University provides you with advanced knowledge in the theory and application of environmental health and environmental health risk assessment.
Both programmes cater for national and international students through the teaching of globally relevant concepts and through the opportunity to undertake risk assessment and applied research in the environmental health area within Flinders University or their existing workplace.
Your career
Graduates of the Graduate Diploma in Environmental Health Practice will be qualified to practise as EHOs anywhere in Australia. Some further study may be required for international students to be recognised under their domestic legislation.
Graduates of the masters programme will be qualified for employment in both the public and private sector, especially local government, state health departments, private environmental consulting firms and mining companies. They will be qualified to practise as EHOs anywhere in Australia and anywhere that recognises EHA accreditation. Graduates will gain the project management, research, communication and report writing skills that are critical to the senior and specialist roles in environmental health.
