Key features
The European Master in Health Economics and Management (Eu-HEM) is a unique two-year master’s programme, organised by Erasmus University Rotterdam and three partnering universities. This programme prepares you for a career in staff and executive positions in organizations and institutions involved in both national and international healthcare provision. Such as national hospitals, international pharmaceutical companies, aid organisations, governmental agencies, research institutions, etc.

Depending on your specialisation you have the opportunity to study at four top European universities. The European Master in Health Economics and Management offers four specialisations:
- Management of Healthcare Institutions
- Economic Evaluation in Healthcare
- Health Economics & Policy
- Population Health Management

From national hospitals to research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, ministries of health or international aid organisations. All are very fond of our students and graduates.
Programme Structure
You will start your first semester in Bologna with your fellow students. This semester will set the base and starts early September. You will achieve basic knowledge of health economics, healthcare management but also the relation to international law. In this semester, you can obtain 30 ECTS.
In the second semester you decide on your field of interest and select your specific track. The chosen track will lead you to two different universities:
- Health Economics & Policy (University of Oslo & University of Bologna)
- Economic Evaluation in Healthcare (Erasmus University Rotterdam & University of Oslo)
- Management of Healthcare Institutions (University of Oslo & Management Center Innsbruck)
- Population Health Management (Management Center Innsbruck & Erasmus University Rotterdam)
The fourth semester is fully dedicated to your master thesis. You will write about a topic related to your track. With your thesis you show that you can perform scientific research and are able to report and discuss the study and its conclusions in a clear way.

General requirements
Academic Requirements
- You must have a bachelor’s degree comparable to a Norwegian bachelor’s degree. You must have a minimum grade average comparable to a Norwegian C in the required specialization. A Norwegian C is described as a good grade, generally comparable to an American B and a Second Class Upper in the British system.
- English language proficiency must be documented with a valid TOEFL IBT, IELTS Academic or PTE Academic test score if you are not covered by one of the exemptions. Test results must be valid (not older than two years) on the date of the application deadline.
