The Master's Programme in Real Estate Economics from Aalto University combines the scientific disciplines of economics, management, land management and planning to provide students with the key skills needed in the wide range of careers in the real estate sector. To understand the complexity of the subjects, many courses combine theoretical knowledge with real life projects and business cases. As most jobs in real estate are about people and interaction, a strong emphasis in the studies is put on team work.
What will students learn in this programme?
Courses within the programme cover the skills and knowledge required to manage real estate throughout its life cycle. All students in real estate economics will be introduced to the principles of real estate economics and the dynamics of real estate market, as well as valuation methods and investment analysis. All students will also increase their knowledge on real estate and environmental legislation and the planning system, and their role in real estate markets. After these common studies students can choose to specialise in either Real Estate Economics and Management or in Land Management.
The range of potential careers in the field of real estate is wide, making it possible to follow your personal interests and ambitions. Specialists are needed in all phases of the lifecycle of real estate and urban areas. Our graduates find employment both in private and public sector, in Finland and abroad. The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test.
Note: degree programmes and applications may require a more specific minimum score for admission.
Minimum required score:
The TOEFL – or Test OF English as a Foreign Language – offers a paper-based test (PBT). The final, overall PBT score ranges between 310 and 677, and is based on an average taken from the three test components (listening, structure, and reading). The selection process is paper-based and competitive. Applications that pass the eligibility check of Aalto University Admissions Services (administrative evaluation) proceed to the School's programme specific academic evaluation. The following academic evaluation criteria applies:
